Image Information

Each little image is a link to the main press release for that image. Once there, click on "visuals" to find ALL of the images, movies, animations, etc that accompany each release.

I'm just copying information from the public site onto one page for my own reference. If there is an entry here but there is information missing (like distance or exposure time) from here, chances are that the information is also missing from the public site.

I did NOT copy information for every single release, just the ones that well, I felt like! :) (usually the ones with IRAC or MIPS images.)

A note on sizes. The moon is about half a degree across, so its total area is about 0.5 x 0.5 degree. There are 60 arcminutes in a degree, so half a degree is 30 arcminutes. Therefore, something that is about 30 x 30 arcminutes is about the size of the full moon. Also, in general, astronomers use parsecs (pc) or astronomical units (AU), not light years (LY). Sometimes distances in the below are given in AU (1 AU = distance between the Sun and Earth, e.g., 8 light minutes) or pc (1 pc = 3.26 LY).
