Here are some pictures of the Pegasus XL rocket at Vandenburg AFB. Orbital Sciences doesn't want pictures of this on the web (and VAFB didn't want us to take pictures of this at all), which is why they have to be here, in an unlinked directory.

Stage 1 of the Pegasus. It is airdropped at 40,000 feet from a special L-1011.
It's a lot like a cruise missle, in that respect.
The end of the Pegasus protrudes into a clean room where the satellite
