Image Gallery: Late-Type Extended Galaxies

This is a montage of late-type extended galaxies found in the SWIRE survey. The pseudo-truecolor images are composites of IRAC 3.6/4.5/8 micron data. Although the spatial resolution of Spitzer is relatively poor (2") at IRAC wavelengths, the tremendous area covered by the SWIRE survey ensures that many relatively nearby and hence resolvable galaxies are contained within it.
